Centro, a Chicago-based company that specializes in media management software, has twice won a Moxie Award for company culture, and it is up for another in the 2015 Moxie Awards. Additionally, Centro, which offers 401(k) match, a health savings account and sabbatical, finished No. 1 atop the Crain’s Chicago Business Best Places to Work list from 2011-2014.
So, the latest accolade is unsurprising.
Today, Centro appeared at No. 1 on Fortune’s list of 10 great workplaces in advertising and marketing. It was the lone company headquartered in Chicago on the list, which Fortune created with help from office review site Great Rated!
According to the article, Great Rated! employees sifted through thousands of employee surveys. In its search, the Great Rated! team found that advertising professionals prefer bosses that support risk-taking and understand that mistakes happen. Furthermore, the advertising workforce enjoys ethical, competent management, and it is eager to join employers that embrace professional development.
Other Centro perks include free yoga classes, fresh fruit, gym membership reimbursements, and 10 “Ferris Bueller” days included in PTO to be used as employees wish.
"We take care of our employees’ emotional and physiological needs (e.g. great healthcare, free fruit and snacks, professional coaching, fitness stipends, donation matching and more) so that they can work hard and be creative without the common worries of everyday life,” Allison Mueller, director of total rewards at Centro, said. “We offer a plethora of paid time off spanning vacation time, flex days, holidays and more. In Sept. 2014, Fortune named Centro No. 8 on its list of the 25 best medium-sized companies to work for.
