Smart audio platform Rivet Radio announced today its total funding has reached $3.6 million.

Investors include The Associated Press, A. H. Belo Management Services, The IrishAngels, Ringleader Ventures, and individual backers.

“It’s a real privilege to be working with top investors who believe in our mission to deliver smart audio ubiquitously,” CEO John MacLeod said in a statement. “We’re using our resources to continually perfect our industry-leading smart audio solution - making it faster than ever to produce, package and play stories through our listening platforms and give all listeners a unique, tailored experience through the process.”

The company is partnering with a growing list of companies including Bosch Automotive Technologies, Jaguar and Land Rover, OpenCar Inc., Abalta’s WEBLINK, and InterCall. Media partners include The Associated Press, American Public Media, and The Dallas Morning News.

“Rivet was founded on the idea that news radio should be built for you,” MacLeod said in an earlier interview with Built In Chicago. “Radio enthusiasts through the decades have been at the mercy of announcers, waiting until the ‘top of hour’ to hear the important reports and oftentimes mindlessly listening to other reports in between. Rivet changes that.”

Rivet Radio was named as one of our 2015 Startups to Watch
