Silvercar, an Austin-based car rental startup, launched its services to the Chicago market over the weekend, hoping to become a viable alternative to travelers who despise the current airport car rental system.

The tech company's Audi vehicles can be rented at airports in the city for $59 a day until the end of July as part of its expansion efforts.

Backed by Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin and other investors, Silvercar's mission is to improve quality and experience when it comes to airport rental cars. In order to do so, the company has focused on adding technology like built-in Wi-Fi and satellite radio and by utilizing mobile apps to streamline the renting process.

Silvercar plans to expand to Ft. Lauderdale in the upcoming month.
