Wanna give back? These companies give employees time off to volunteer

Giving back to the local community is something we’d all like to do more of, but finding the time to do so alongside a full-time job and responsibilities outside of work can be a hassle. Thankfully, some employers recognize that challenge, offering their teams the opportunity to volunteer during working hours. If that’s a priority for you, here are some companies you might want to check out.

What they do: Payline Data offers digital payment solutions for mobile, e-commerce and brick-and-mortar shopping. Founded with positive impact as part of its mission, the Chicago startup donates to a dozen charitable partners throughout the year.

Volunteer policy: Payline has designated “community time off” days that let employees get involved in their local communities. The company also offers charitable matching programs and opportunities to serve as a company ambassador at charity events.

What they do: project44 makes middleware that streamlines communication between companies operating in the freight and logistics space. Although the company has its eyes set on revolutionizing logistics, it still sets aside paid time for its employees to give back.

Volunteer policy: Employees at project44 get a paid volunteer day. Other perks include three weeks of vacation on top of holidays, as well as a 401(k) and insurance plans from day one.

What they do: IMC is a tech-driven market maker, which trades on over 100 exchanges worldwide. To gain and maintain a competitive edge, the company leverages technologies like FPGA, C++ and Java.

Volunteer policy: IMC encourages all of its employees to volunteer at least once per year. It also has an education grant program for underprivileged youth and a matching charitable donation program that helps the team maximize the impact of its giving.

What they do: Sittercity is an online marketplace that connects families with vetted caregivers for their progeny. The company is headquartered in Chicago, but its services are available nationwide.

Volunteer policy: Sittercity offers volunteer opportunities in addition to social outings and company events. And if you’re already volunteering outside of work, subsidized use of its personal childcare services might come in handy, too.

What they do: Rightpoint helps Fortune 1000 companies build digital customer experiences. Its solutions run the gamut from web and mobile to IoT, social and e-commerce.

Volunteer policy: Rightpoint's Compassion Crew makes volunteering events part of its social calendar, alongside game nights, 5K runs and golf outings. Employees also get to choose between four healthcare plans, and they have continuous training and certification opportunities.
