Caroline Howard of Forbes did a nice piece on Inventables today. The write up was part of an ongoing effort to identify the people, places, ideas, products and companies that are poised to become central to the global conversation over the next six to nine months. Kenny Gutierrez nominated Inventables. If you'd like to nominate your own “name” click here to nominate . We are told the best will be featured in an upcoming issue of Forbes magazine.

From the article:
Inventables, a self-described “Innovator’s Hardware Store,” sells things you won’t see anywhere else, probably because they were just smuggled out of some hacker’s laboratory.  “Our true passion was working with small teams and businesses but we were working with the biggest companies,” Kaplan explains from the Chicago headquarters. Make that office of seven. “We decided to democratize and give everyone access to these materials and level the playing field. We’re trying to make product development inspiring and easy to do.” Think FabLab for the world outside M.I.T.
