Over the past several years I’ve presented on topics related to design, mobile, innovation, and entrepreneurship at a number conferences and industry events. I’m certainly not a full time professional speaker, but I really enjoy doing it, and I’m probably somewhere in the once-a-month club.
I’ve found that one of the trickiest parts to getting new speaking gigs is that event coordinators often request to see video examples of past events—and very few events take great video that presenters can use for self promotion. This is especially true for presenters who focus on workshops or breakout sessions. For a while this conundrum plagued me, but I eventually resolved things by purchasing some cost-effective and highly portable video recording equipment.
