Kilowatts of Kindness... a new initiative at Power2Switch

Hey Chicago startup friends… we need your help!

As you may already know, at Power2Switch we aspire to make energy interesting and more engaging while helping everyone consume energy responsibly: one kilowatt at a time.  As we re-imagine the way people engage with energy and continue to raise awareness of deregulation, we are working to create “social value” in the energy industry by redefining the way people give: one kilowatt of kindness at a time.

We are working on new initiative that we are calling Kilowatts of Kindness which is a Social Energy Platform that will allow people to “share energy” with families in need. The goal of Kilowatts of Kindness is to drive social collaboration among customers, who choose to switch their energy supplier with Power2Switch, by giving them an opportunity to share their savings with other citizens or families who are unable to afford electricity.

An initial concept for Kilowatts of Kindness has been submitted to the Echoing Green challenge Connecting with your Community, which can be found on Good Maker (http://purpose.maker.good.is/projects/KilowattsofKindness), in hopes to receive feedback from the community on this idea. Additionally, the award from this competition will enable us to have the resources to do field research in the community as well as to understand how to message the value and mission of the program to create global awareness and successfully connect with those who are experiencing hardship.

Help us launch Kilowatts of Kindness by spreading the word, so that we can light all of America! Comments and votes from the Chicago startup community would be much appreciated and helpful as we work to launch this initiative. Let’s work together to make #kilowattsofkindness a trending topic!
