Show notes

Jim Gagnard is a veteran technologist. He spent many years in Silicon Valley and he’s become a prominent figure and champion of the Chicago technology scene. Among several other leadership positions, Jim is currently the Chairman of the Board for the Illinois Technology Association (ITA).

Having led a number of companies across the continent, most with crazy successful exits, some that left a few things to be desired, Jim has a few best practices he holds dear. One of his cardinal rules to building a successful team is to embrace change. There is a time and a place to dig your heels in, but at the end of the day, change is a good thing and should be embraced. Like Jim’s style? Here are few more tips to keep in mind:

  • Build trust by openly communicating from the get go.
  • Clearly lay out expectations for everyone on your team.
  • Change is the only constant in our industry, if you can’t accept that, get out.
