At the end of 90 grueling days of startup bootcamp, the ten companies from TechStars Chicago’s inaugural class will graduate at the end of this month. To celebrate, the program is opening its doors to the public for a Community Demo Day on September 9, where anyone can visit and see the action.

Pitches will take place from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., preceded by check-in and followed by a networking period. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness the city’s first TechStars pitch event.

It is a great opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs to see what a polished pitch looks like, what elements investors care about and what 12 weeks of ‘bootcamp’ can do for a business,” says Troy Henikoff, Managing Director of TechStars Chicago.

Excelerate Labs, the accelerator that evolved into TechStars Chicago, enjoyed three successful years under Henikoff’s guidance. Over that time, Excelerate’s startup graduates raised over $35 million from investors and landed coverage in publications such as GigaOM, TechCrunch, Fast Company and Inc.

This year, TechStars Chicago companies will pitch at an invite-only event for investors at the House of Blues on August 28. While that event is reserved for wooing investors, the Community Demo Day will give others a chance to meet the companies, hear about their TechStars experience and network.

“Everyone is excited to see what comes out of the inaugural class of Techstars Chicago,” Henikoff says. “It just may be our best class yet!”
