We at RedShelf were students not too long ago and founded the company based on the idea that textbooks shouldn’t cost a fortune or weigh a ton. RedShelf is focused on helping transition the entire learning community from print to digital course materials while serving as an advocate for all students.

We are a fast-growing startup (300% year-over-year) based out of the Boyce Building in downtown Chicago. Our goal is to improve the higher education industry through digital textbooks by helping to reduce cost, increase access, and improve outcomes. Also, if you are interested in wearing jeans to work and eating on a private rooftop deck for lunch, RedShelf may be the place for you.

What is the job?

As an account manager, you will contribute to the rapid acceleration of RedShelf’s market expansion by working with sales team to grow our campus partnerships through a relationship-based sales approach, while implementing seamless technical integrations with key market players for the benefit of our direct partners and end users. You will be responsible for:

  • Using project management skills and communication vehicles to coordinate internal teams and meeting client needs effectively while providing regular status reports on assigned accounts’ progress
  • Acting as liaison for internal and external communications with assigned accounts, provide visibility of client lifecycle, and deliver exceptional customer service to assist with account retention
  • Facilitating enhancements to communications, tools, capabilities and product lines

What are we looking for?

First and foremost, we are looking for someone who is passionate about contributing to the development of high education while also making an impact. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree and 1 – 3 years of experience in academic publishing, higher education, and/or technology with proven success in generating new business, driving account revenue, and building client relationships. Additional requirements include:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with a concentration on Excel skills and a CRM software
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable developing and leading projects independently with little to no direction
  • Capable of balancing multiple priorities and deadlines while being adaptable to the changing needs of the business

Perks of the Gig (aka Benefits):

As RedShelf is a small and scrappy startup, everyone is expected to put in a little extra effort. We are the type of company where you will see the fruits of your labor immediately and not feel like you are just another cog in the machine. While we typically have longer workdays, it’s counterbalanced with an engaging office culture and a supportive team. Additional perks include annual “RedShelf Retreats” and frequent onsite and offsite events including video game tournaments, sports teams (soccer, baseball, volleyball, etc.), happy hours, volunteer work, and more. RedShelf also offers competitive compensation packages that include company stock options.

EEO Statement:

RedShelf is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Women, people of color, individuals with a disability, veterans, and others who would enrich the diversity of RedShelf are encouraged to apply.
