Location: This role is hybrid and will be based in both our Burr Ridge and Elmhurst offices, with a target of 3-4 in-office days per week.

About the role:

We are seeking a Controller to oversee and enhance our accounting function. The Controller will be instrumental in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial statements, managing daily accounting operations, and leading financial strategy. This role will also serve as a key liaison with external auditors and support our mission through effective financial stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Leadership: Lead and develop the accounting team, providing strategic direction and mentorship. Foster a collaborative environment and ensure alignment with financial goals and standards.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policies. Ensure accurate and timely reporting to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Accounting Operations: Manage daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance. Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Operational Accounting: Supervise key aspects of operational accounting such as inventory management, cost analysis, and financial reporting related to operational activities. Ensure precise tracking and reporting of operational expenses and cost management.
  • FP&A Collaboration: Partner with the FP&A team to drive financial planning, forecasting, and performance analysis. Provide critical financial insights and data to support budgeting, variance analysis, and strategic decision-making.
  • Finance Tech Stack Optimization: Work closely with IT and finance teams to optimize our finance technology stack, including accounting software, ERP systems, and reporting tools. Ensure systems meet the evolving needs of the accounting and finance departments.
  • Internal Controls: Develop and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Conduct regular reviews and updates to maintain robust control systems.
  • Audit Management: Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits. Prepare comprehensive audit documentation, address auditor inquiries, and implement audit recommendations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and drive process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to streamline operations.
  • Special Projects: Lead and contribute to special financial projects and initiatives, including system implementations, process optimizations, and strategic financial planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior accounting or financial management role, with a strong background in GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and developing a finance team.
  • Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems, and financial reporting tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Base Pay range for this position:

  • $150,000 - $215,000 per year
  • Target Annual Bonus: 25% of base salary

The final discretionary compensation that will be offered for this role depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
