What You’ll Be Doing

• Conceive, code and launch the next­ generation in Groupon's ranking and personalization system; your algorithms will improve the daily experience of the entire Groupon user base!

• Redefine state­-of-­the-­art in personalization and relevance for mobile and online commerce

• Use large and rich datasets on user behavior for local commerce to identify actionable insights

• Use big data technologies such as Hadoop, HBase and Teradata

• Generate intellectual property via patents and papers

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an MS or PhD program in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field (with an emphasis on algorithms, machine learning, data mining, statistics, applied mathematics)

• Strong coding skills in one or more programming language such as Java/C++/Python/Ruby etc.

• Understanding of applied math topics such as probability and statistics, linear algebra, basic optimization techniques

• Experience in SQL, Hadoop, and scripting preferred

• Strong communication and collaboration skills
