Vokal, a leading Digital Experience Agency, is looking for a talented Android Engineer to join our growing team. We’re prepared to give you the tools you need to be great at what you do, including six ways (and counting) to brew your coffee—or plenty of tea if you prefer. Your experience as a member of our team matters just as much as the experiences we create for our clients and the users of our products.

If you are an experienced Android development and want to work with the best Android engineers in the city we can’t wait to get you on board. We are looking for someone who is proficient with modern android development methods and is able to work independently. This is a contract role that has potential to turn into a full time permanent position.

 

Position Responsibilities

  • Contribute best-in-class programming skills to develop highly innovative, consumer-facing, and enterprise mobile solutions
  • Support and collaborate with clients, other developers, and designers to determine business and technical solutions
  • Provide peer code reviews and constructive feedback to ensure code quality

 

Experience

  • 2+ apps published in the Google Play Store
  • 3+ years of professional Android software development experience
  • Computer Science degree preferred (or equivalent experience)

 

Technical Skills

Proven proficiency in the following:

  • Software architecture and design patterns
  • Android Components & Lifecycles
  • Android Layouts & Custom Views
  • RESTful APIs and other web services
  • Data persistence and serialization
  • Android Support Library
  • Testing and Code Coverage
  • Memory Management & Multi-threading
  • Debugging Tools
  • Gradle Build System
  • GIT source control (Github, Bitbucket)
  • Agile development & estimating effort

Bonus for technical proficiency in:

  • Kotlin programming language
  • Android Architecture Components
  • Design Support Library
  • View Data Binding
  • Bluetooth, Sensors
  • Internet-of-Things (IoT)
  • Test-Driven Development (TDD)
