Summary of the Role
We’re looking for an expert Android Software Engineer to help in our efforts to create and enhance our suite of vehicle insurance applications. Our Mobile team has no bounds in regards to experimenting and using the latest technology in the space. Our current team size is small but capable, where each member has the chance to make lasting impacts in the company. Though we are looking for an expert on Android you will be encouraged to pick up iOS development to help accomplish goals for both platforms. We will provide the support needed to help you achieve this.
Responsibilities
- Help design, implement, and maintain a portfolio of mobile apps
- Execute thorough code reviews
- Communicate with back-end, design, QA, and product management teams
- Willing to learn iOS (Swift) development
- Convey current status of tasks
- Experiment with new technologies such as Kotlin on Android or ARKit on iOS
- Enthusiastically learn new concepts as well as share and distribute current knowledge and expertise to the team
Qualifications
- B.S./B.A. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- 2+ years of Android Software Development
- Published, individually or with a team, one or more Android applications
- Experience with Android Studio
- Expert in Java alongside the Android SDK
- Knowledge of networking libraries, such as Retrofit/OkHttp
- Practice with asynchronous work
- Understanding of common data structures and algorithms
Additional Skills (bonus points)
- HTML/CSS/Javascript experience
- Python/Ruby Web Framework experience
- Personal Projects or Open Source work
