About the role
We’re looking for an experienced back-end engineer to help build the core 4Degrees platform. This engineer will be highly versatile: comfortable switching between tasks like optimizing SQL queries, synchronizing activities across servers, hooking up to APIs, and experimenting with web scraping and advanced analytics.
The ideal back-end engineer will be excited about combining data science with a
customer-centric mindset to empower a new level of intelligence for relationship management. We’re building an industry-defining company that requires entirely new approaches; we need an engineer who is comfortable experimenting, learning, and expanding the scope of what’s possible.

Requirements
- Proficient with Python, including experience with at least one Python web framework
- (Django, Flask, Pyramid, etc.)
- Comfortable with plain SQL and an ORM
- Comfortable writing robust unit test coverage
Nice-to-haves
- Proficiency with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience with machine learning and/or statistical analysis
- Experience with server architecture and administration
- Experience in architecting a continuous deployment environment
