About you

You are curious about content management systems and publishing tools – you want to know how they work, learn what’s new, and work out how they can be adapted to support new content types and formats. You’re the kind of person who notices a gap and figures out how to fill it. When you don’t know how to do something, you’re not afraid to ask questions. Most importantly, you are customer-focused and know that accuracy matters.

About the job

The editorial content you publish will help guide our Commercial Real Estate customers who are looking for the latest industry headlines, research and events.

Daily: Responsible for collecting and entering approved content and associated assets into the publishing tool for the Daily Market Update, News, Events, Learning, and Research sections. Perform self-QA and ensure a high degree of accuracy. Help route content through the creation, approval, and publishing processes. Coordinate daily publishing priorities with the Managing Editor/Copy Chief. Add new items to project tracker, update status of existing items, and manage projects through completion.

Weekly: Work with the Content Strategist to maintain the tagging taxonomy and help ensure content is findable.

Ongoing: Work with the Content Strategist on quarterly site section audits to ensure all previously published content meets current standards. Suggest site improvements that will make content easier to find and any other enhancements that will improve the user experience. Suggest publishing tool improvements that will streamline the publishing process and other enhancements that will improve the content author experience.

Qualifications

During the interview process be prepared to speak to and/or share samples that demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Experience working with publishing tools and content management systems, such as AEM or Drupal, in a daily publishing environment
  • Familiarity with editorial style guides, including AP Style, and publishing process flows
  • Understanding of how user experience impacts content consumption
  • High attention to detail; proofreader-level accuracy
  • Basic understanding of HTML
  • Ability to use all standard software tools and, more importantly, the ability to learn new ones
  • Proactive idea-generator and problem solver
  • Demonstrated flexibility – able to shift strategies and tactics when required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Three-to-five years of professional experience required, with at least two years of web content publishing experience
