Content Strategists/Content Designers at IA Collaborative are masters at empowering people, businesses and brands through the interface of language. We interpret Content Design broadly to meet the evolving needs of the innovation space, and consider it synonymous with industry-standard roles such as Copywriter, Content Strategist and UX Writer.

The Content Design Director is an expert in Content with creation, optimization, brand consistency, segmentation, localization, and analytics.

We take Insight to Action, to define business models — profit, process, channel, brand and partnership strategies — and create new physical and digital products, brands, services and environments.

You will share in our drive and aspiration to make an impact in the world through design while working collaboratively with designers, researchers, strategists, engineers, developers, and architects.

As a Content Design Director, you will be responsible for:

Projects and Processes

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery and design of content for products, services and prototypes, both in-market and concept, that gives value to users and improves their daily lives.
  • Serve as primary contact for day-to-day and executive-level client(s).
  • Guide updates to overall project approach, team performance, and activities.
  • Actively manage to project budgets, project scope, and project timelines.
  • Lead project continuation efforts.
  • Be responsible for project management responsibilities on projects that are small in scope, timeline, and team composition
  • Create brand communication strategies by championing principles of content organization.
  • Define the range of information and detail needed to meet varying audience and business goals, coordinating details into meaningful combinations.
  • Immerse yourself in and advocate for the user’s perspective, ensuring content and end-product are clear to all audiences.
  • Craft compelling copy to support a variety of business needs as they arise, providing recommendations and craft articulate POVs to senior level stakeholders.
  • Own content requirements and communicate them to design and development teams.

Growing the Business

  • Provide leadership for the growth and vision of the team’s process and capabilities, including identifying new offerings.
  • Apply a strategic lens to understand our client’s business challenges with a goal of developing and creating sustainable and distinctive business value through our partnership.
  • Lead the development and best practices for creating strong client relationships; lead and advise others in applying new approaches to client experiences.
  • Plan, initiate, and manage growing client relationships within and beyond projects.
  • Identify and frame new client engagements, including leading new business outreach, directing others in proposal creation, and creating strategies, activities, and methods for new project approaches.
  • Initiate and own external ambassadorship opportunities on behalf of IA Collaborative, including industry events, college/university events and workshop facilitation, and other thought leadership engagements.

Organizational Health

  • Aid in development and management of the discipline’s team members, including recruiting and hiring, resourcing, and day-to-day coaching and mentorship, recognition, as well as leading and providing oversight to the team on projects.
  • Understand personal and team roles, contribute to a positive working environment by building solid relationships with team members, and proactively seeking guidance, clarification, and feedback.
  • Collaborate and contribute on cross-functional (technical and non-technical skill sets) teams to shape the culture of the organization through development of policies, procedures, practices, norms, and initiatives.
  • Inspire others through your passion and knowledge of current trends in digital design and business; support others as they grow their knowledge and skills about content design.
  • Know the Business of the Business: Act as a steward of IA Collaborative’s overall business by exploring future possibilities for the organization including new offerings and capabilities, talent acquisition, thought leadership, and other business growth-oriented activities.


Your Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public relations, or related communications field; master’s degree preferred.

10 plus years of experience with content creation, user-centered problem solving, and management, preferably within a design firm, digital agency that includes:

  • A variety of methods for user-centered problem-solving
  • Content strategy that informs design decisions
  • Leading teams through complex engagements with enterprise clients
  • Designing and leading successful client ideation and prioritization work sessions

Software such as Sketch, Figma, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Confluence and Jira. Ability to learn new software quickly is a plus.

Portfolio demonstrating a breadth of complex work and exceptional writing, editing, and formatting skills.

A proven track record of creating effective end-user-facing content, preferably for in-market products.

Multi-year experience collaborating with cross-functional teams: visual design, UX, and video.

Breadth of experience working across a diverse range of frameworks, platforms, products and services.

IA Collaborative Future of Work Model:

Tentatively starting January 10th, 2022, we will enact a 3-day in-office/2-day option-to-work-from-home schedule. We are currently working from home with an option to work from the IA Collaborative office following CDC and local guidelines.
