The Morningstar Marketing & Brand Creative team is dedicated to creating thoughtfully crafted communications and content that drive brand awareness, trust, and engagement, supporting our goal of helping people across the world make the best investing decisions for themselves and their clients. Our team is made up of several disciplines-visual and UX designers, content strategists, writers, video producers, animators, and audio engineers-united to help each other, and the whole company, grow. The Role: Morningstar is looking for a Senior Video & Media Production Manager who will lead our global team of video producers and media specialists that create all video and audio content for Morningstar. Through cross-functional collaboration, the Senior Video & Media Production Manager focuses on creating and executing a strategic vision media delivery across Morningstar. You'll guide video and audio content creation to drive engagement on our global websites, social media, and other digital channels, along with developing media systems to support our global virtual conferences and internal company events and communications. This position reports to the Creative Director.
Responsibilities:
Creative Direction and Production Expertise
  • Utilize your expertise in all aspects of media production process, from concepting, narrative development and pre-production, to hands-on technical production, to post-production, editing, and media content delivery.
  • Use industry best practices to plan and perform the execution of content including, but not limited to: writing/outlining scripts, talent direction, lighting, camera operation, sound capture, video editing, graphics creation (from provided standards), audio enhancement, and file encoding.
  • Have a deep understanding of the Morningstar brand and ensure that deliverables properly represent it in compelling and fresh ways.
  • Create a high standard for all content created, providing written SOPs and training for team members.
  • Have ultimate responsible for the quality and quantity of all outputs coming from the Global Media Production Team.
  • Ensure that efficient and technically sound processes are used in media execution, and file management protocols are created and adhered for the dependable archiving of material.
  • Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices to ensure that content created is relevant and appealing.

Stakeholder & Relationship Management
  • Understand the overall businesses we support and how media can help support their objectives.
  • Partner with business to align on strategy, project management needs, timelines, and executional details.
  • Manage outside vendor and agency partners, as well as freelancers and contract workforce as appropriate.

People Management & Leadership
  • Manage project flow to match team resources and meet all deadlines.
  • Manage projects within the Media Production Team to ensure that roadblocks are removed.
  • Manage and empower the Media Production Team to execute the shared strategic vision as a team.
  • Champion video and audio content across the organization.

Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in broadcast or corporate video production.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Proven track record as a manager of teams and people.
  • Passion for empowering and equipping team members to do their best work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written - as a senior leader, strong communication, and vision are a prerequisite for success.
  • Skillful at providing, receiving, and acting upon feedback.
  • Advanced knowledge and extensive experience with Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Working knowledge and experience with Adobe After Effects, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Audition.
  • Advanced knowledge and extensive experience with LED video lighting.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Canon C100 cameras and Blackmagic Design Cameras.
  • Advanced knowledge and extensive experience with industry standard sound capture devices, including but not limited to "boom" microphones, lavalier microphones, audio mixers, and audio recorders.
  • Working knowledge and experience with hardware and software video devices, including but not limited to vMix, Wirecast, Newtek Tricaster, Blackmagic Design ATEM, and Blackmagic Design Converters.
  • Experience working with freelancers and other AV vendors.
  • An aptitude for troubleshooting and helping team members overcome obstacles.
  • A record of providing excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of personal finance and investing is a plus.

Every day is a little different. Our team is focused on POC (Proof of Concepts). My work involves problem-solving, development and software design. I work on the Data collections team, currently most of this involves, on a high level, automating the process currently used to collect data from raw sources through Machine Learning.
