We're Looking for a Staff Reporter

Are you a sharp and resourceful writer obsessed with learning about how tech companies are shaping our future? If so, we’d love to meet you.

We’re looking for a reporter ready to take our features coverage to the next level. You’ll be part of an ambitious team with reporting and editing experience from publications like the Atlantic, the New York Times, Pacific Standard, Vox Media and the Huffington Post. This reporter will focus on guides and explainers about emerging trends and ideas driving the tech industry and its workforce. 

You’ll work with your editor to develop a beat at the intersection of tech and business reporting, examining the people and processes responsible for building fast-growing, innovative companies and teams.

This reporter will be part of Built In’s editorial team, which reports to the VP of Growth and is independent of our marketing-led branded content team.

Who You Are

  • Self-motivated, highly skilled researcher and interviewer.
  • Experienced in writing about complex topics for a broad audience.
  • Excited about service journalism, technology and business coverage.
  • Passionate about crafting engaging, relatable stories for a tech audience.

 What You Need

  • Journalism and reporting experience, with an emphasis on writing reported features between 1,500-3,000 words in length.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Please include two or three writing samples in your application.
