Objectives

  • We are searching for a Trace Compliance Subject Matter Expert. The Relativity Platform is proven with almost 200,000 users and over 100B files under management - we believe Relativity Trace (built on the Relativity platform) is Relativity’s next big opportunity with ambitions to achieve the same scale as the eDiscovery business.
  • As a Trace Compliance Subject Matter Expert on the Relativity Trace team, you will drive the business’ deep understanding of changing regulations, complex risk policies, and the future of communication surveillance from a regulatory perspective. You will be our main point of contact with the regulators, and develop and own the Relativity Trace perspective on complying with global market abuse regulations. You will be working directly with all Trace functions to improve product features, marketing messaging, and sales approach. You will act as a partner to our Trace Specialists during client proof of concepts and implementations to improve risk identification accuracy to garner positive client outcomes.
  • This role requires strong ownership, organization, and an ability to understand the larger mission while being able to work in the weeds.

Role Responsibilities

  •  Act as the Compliance subject matter expert (SME) for the Trace business, supporting product, marketing, and sales
  • Lead customer events and generate market related content (webinars, Relativity Fest, whitepapers, podcasts, etc.)
  • Provide team with information related to regulations, enforcement cases, themes in compliance, including new guidance from global regulators
  • Define use cases, risks, descriptions, and objectives that describe what a specific policy is looking for and provide input in the prioritization of new policies
  • Gather training data from global regulations, enforcement actions, and other available content for input into our AI models
  • Use your own experience and knowledge to generate relevant metadata and lexicons for each policy to supplement AI models
  • Support clients in customizing our policies based on specific use cases most relevant to them during proof of concepts and implementations
  • Become an expert in the Trace product and work directly with Product Management to improve risk identification, reporting, and workflow functionality
  • Guide how we engage with global regulators

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Compliance experience, including global regulations around Market Abuse and Conduct Risk within financial institutions
  • Demonstrated ability to create regulatory thought leadership
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Experience advising and/or building world-class monitoring and surveillance programs within financial services organizations
  • Understanding of different enterprise communication platforms (Bloomberg Chat, IceChat, email, Teams, etc.) and how risk factors change across channels
  • Understanding of risks and regulations across geographies (EMEA, US, APAC)
  • Experience working with regulators on proof of surveillance inquiries
  • Ability to break down risk into an objective, components, examples, etc. and develop a strong perspective on how to accurately identify that risk
  • Experience defining requirements and specifications that are used by engineering teams
  • Familiarity with complex enterprise applications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Degree
  • Minimum qualifications:

  • At least three years working in the surveillance industry (as a consultant, compliance/surveillance officer, attorney or former regulator)
  • Practical experience advising or implementing controls to comply with global Market Abuse and Conduct Risk regulations 
  • Bachelor's Degree

Supervision

  • This role does not have any direct reports, but there may be opportunities to build out a team as the organization grows

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Chicago or London preferred, but not required
  • 10% travel
