What You’ll Do

The ERM Associate Principal (Analytics) will provide critical support to the Executive Director and Managing Director of ERM by helping monitor adherence to risk appetite, develop risk reporting, and embed aspects of the RMF across the process, risk, and control universe. The Associate Principal will be coordinating with other control functions, such as Compliance, by facilitating appropriate business unit risk governance to ensure alignment to OCC strategy and short-term objectives. The role will involve close collaboration with the broader ERM team as well as other key OCC stakeholders.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

  • Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of reports and metrics to evaluate the performance of the ERM program across the company

  • Assist the ERM Governance, Analytics, & Monitoring Team with implementing, assessing, monitoring, and reporting on the adequacy and effectiveness of OCC’s Risk Management Framework (RMF) across business areas

  • Develop and leverage a strong understanding of OCC’s RMF to assist business units with governance issues and concerns

  • Verify, analyze, create, and monitor key performance, risk, and control indicators to support management and board-level reporting across business units

  • Identify, develop, and implement tools or methods to track and monitor risk

  • Assist with the drafting and maintenance of ERM’s policies and procedures

  • Track and communicate identified audit and exam issues as well as business area self-identified issues and findings to the ERM Management Team

  • Assist in the creation of departmental trainings including but not limited to trainings that cover OCC’s RMF, Risk Assessment, Risk Treatment, and User Defined Applications programs and activities

  • Support management with special projects and other duties as assigned

  • Understanding of securities/derivatives markets and risk management

  • Comprehensive analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to think creatively and present ideas clearly

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Experience in designing and producing quality reports and presentations with a focus on attention to details

  • Ability to interact and collaborate with all levels of the organization and across a multitude of departments is essential

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously, as well as the ability to adapt to shifting priorities

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint

  • Proficiency with Tableau

  • Experience with Alteryx or similar ETL tool

  • Experience with on-prem databases and APIs to access data

  • Familiarity with Python and/or R

Education and/or Experience:

  • 3+ years of hands-on data analytics, science, and/or engineering experience required

  • 3+ years of financial services, risk management, compliance, and/or audit experience required

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in relevant quantitative/analytical field preferred
