The Business Analyst is a member of the Product & Solutions Delivery team who participates in building new technology or enhancing existing products on Echo’s proprietary Enterprise systems and partnering software applications.
General Responsibilities
- Develops deep expertise of Echo’s internal and client-facing integrations technology (EDI/API)
- Understands Echo’s business processes and goals across different domains and transportation modes
- Facilitates requirements gathering/refinement sessions with end-users, subject-matter experts, Echo executives
- Documents business requirements, functional product specifications, as-is and to-be business processes for our internal and/or external facing integrations technology
- Takes on the Business Analyst role to work with an Agile development team to lead them to building the right solution; participates in all SCRUM rituals pertaining the Agile methodology
- Participates in product release cycles as the product expert, including user acceptance testing sessions, to help surface any issues prior to a release
- Helps Echo’s application support teams in troubleshooting production issues and escalating issues to the appropriate Agile delivery team as needed; manages end-user expectations appropriately
- Performs analytical studies, research and side projects, as required
Characteristics & Experience
Required Qualifications
- Business Analyst or equivalent work experience in the transportation/logistics/supply chain field (2+ years)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, fluid work environment
- Self-managed and motivated
- Ability to follow through with tasks to their completion
- Very organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to ride a fast learning curve
- Readiness to learn new technologies, MS SQL and analytical tools
Preferred Credentials
- Exposure to the full software development life cycle experience in an Agile-SCRUM environment
- Strong and proven skills in creating quality documents such as user stories/acceptance criteria, business requirements/use cases, process flows, product backlogs
- Good analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate business and market problems and apply technology and domain knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Visio (charts, reports, data analysis, and flowcharting)
- Basic understanding of database concepts, including design, optimization, and SQL query language
Education
- Undergraduate Degree required or equivalent work experience
