The Business and Operations Analytics Manager demonstrates significant strategic thinking and leads a large staff. They are responsible for marrying enterprise and Business Unit strategy to the opportunities provided by advanced analytics. They need to be an excellent communicator and to have shown clear development as a strategic thinker. They need to have firsthand experience designing and deploying analytics to be able to quickly recognize opportunities for applying analytics to generate exceptional enterprise value. The incumbent needs a breadth of knowledge and experience, with deeper experience in at least two domains such as marketing, sales, supply chain, finance, aftermarket, purchasing or manufacturing. They need to demonstrate an extremely strong customer focus, strong leadership, and solid initiative.
This role requires technical expertise to supervise and guide highly technical analytics work, assess technical talent, and guide technical employee development. This role also requires a long-range focus on business strategy. Key responsibilities include planning for future resources and developing capabilities in terms of people and technology; consciously creating and maintaining an organizational culture that encourages innovation, collaboration, and customer focus; fostering a sense of urgency toward business success; involving and integrating key stakeholders to insure project success; communicating alignment of analytics to business strategy, goals, and direction; and continuous improvement.
The Business and Operations Analytics Manager may have supervisors reporting to them. These managers typically represent a highly diverse staff of up between 20-50 analysts, data experts, IT developers, project leaders, or subject matter experts, so the Advanced Analytics Director must display the same ability to manage diversity while displaying exceptional interpersonal communication skills. They are responsible for providing career and skill development assistance to his or her direct reports.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
• 5 + years of people-leadership experience
• 5 + years of advanced analytics expertise
Top Candidates Will Also Have
• Masters or doctoral degree in a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, data science,
statistics, operations research, econometrics, finance, or computer science
• Degree in management field such as business administration, technology management, or
knowledge management
• Experience working cross-functionally in a large manufacturing organization
• 10 + years of people or project leadership experience in a corporate environment developing,
deploying, and integrating advanced analytics capabilities to generate demonstrated business
value by improving business decisions, processes, and systems
• Experience interacting with upper management to identify and communicate analytics
opportunities and serve as a thought leader for analytics
• Demonstrated capability to take initiative and lead in the presence of ambiguity to deliver
innovative solutions
• Experience leading and mentoring a diverse team of junior and senior staff and shaping a culture
to drive a focus on accountability and focus
• Strategic thinking capability to develop and communicate a clear and compelling vision for
analytics
