IMC Business Strategist

IMC Financial Markets in Chicago is growing its business strategy team. The qualified individual will develop and implement strategic priorities in close collaboration with IMC’s Chicago leadership and Strategy team, the global Management Board and Business Strategy lead in Amsterdam. The position will be based in Chicago with periodic travel to the IMC Amsterdam and Sydney offices.

  • Support identification and definition of strategic priorities in close collaboration with IMC leadership to help IMC achieve its rapid growth ambitions over the next years.
  • Enable change to happen and drive real business impact by supporting the execution of defined priorities.
  • Lead or become involved in specific projects relevant to the business and have a “seat at the table” with IMC Chicago’s leadership team.
  • Develop a perspective on industry trends/developments as well as the competitive landscape.
  • Become a member of the business strategy team.
  • Report to the Director of US Business Strategy in the Chicago office.

Qualifications:

  • Consultant at a top-tier consulting firm at project leader level or equivalent.
  • Outstanding problem solving and people skills.
  • Strong quantitative background within physics, math, econometrics or related fields.
  • Previous or current exposure to the financial services industry (developed either as a consultant or within prior roles).

But, thanks to the mentorship and guidance of seasoned colleagues, as well as the org’s formal training programs, the fintech newcomer ultimately found his footing in the field. “The knowledge I have gained today seemed unfathomable two years ago,” Moser said.

With market interactions occurring quickly — “fractions of seconds," per Li — her team moves swiftly to see the impact of their efforts in the field. "We're the end user of our own technology, so we have a quick feedback loop that enables us to iterate much faster," she said.

If I ship code today, I can expect it to enter production the next day and can even get some analysis from traders on the technological and monetary impact it has made.
