Job Description
The Business Strategy Specialist reports to the Senior Manager, Business Strategy. This team directly supports the Senior Vice President of Global Products and Pricing for the Discover Global Network, and as a result you will get to lead and support initiatives that drive meaningful change for the business.
This role will be responsible for key deliverables such as critical research and crafting presentations and reporting for key stakeholders (e.g., Regulators, Cross-Functional Business partners, backup materials for the board, market updates, etc) and various strategic projects for the business.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the development of presentations and reports utilized by the senior management and the executive committee such as (but not limited to) Regulatory presentations, Network presentations, Townhall and Department presentations, critical project tracking, and Board backup materials.
- Supports the successful completion of strategic projects by performing research, assessing possibilities, and framing the recommendation through presentations
- Oversees high-priority initiatives, such as the Call Listening, which requires coordination of resources and high levels of functional integration. Responsible for end to end project management.
- Responsible for document/presentation management and template maintenance. Documents detailed agendas, meeting minutes, action items, project plans and maintain an issue log. Communicates status to all required stakeholders.
- Administers recognition programs. Identifies volunteer opportunities, oversees planning, and executes those activities. Provides logistical support for employee development and engagement programs.
- Assists organization in change management, transitions and communications associated with those efforts.
- Supports department's client outreach efforts which includes but is not limited to coordinating logistical details and compiling materials.
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
- Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Finance, Business or related field
- 2+ years of experience in Project Management, Marketing, Finance, Business
- In lieu of a degree, 6+ years of experience in Project Management, Marketing, Finance, Business
Preferred Qualifications
If we had our say, we’d also look for:
- 4+ years of experience in Project Management, Marketing, Finance, Business
- 2+ years of experience in a matrix organization
- Payment services knowledge/experience
- Process improvement skills
- Ability to work in an ambiguous environment
- Excellent communication skills- ability to communicate across all levels
- Prior Communications experience/content development
