This Role:

We are looking for a talented Chief Risk and Analytics Officer to join Braviant’s Senior Leadership team. This person will provide analytics and credit risk leadership across all aspects of the business, including customer acquisition, loan origination, and portfolio management. The right Analytics leader for this role will be able to combine high-level strategic thinking with a disciplined, data-driven approach to execution that facilitates continuous testing and optimization of our most critical metrics as we grow.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with other Executives to develop the long-term strategy, objectives and roadmap for Braviant’s consumer lending products
  • Lead Analytics, Credit Risk and Business Intelligence teams responsible for the development, validation, maintenance, optimization, and monitoring of decision models and strategies to be used throughout the customer life cycle including new customer acquisition, underwriting, verification, fraud prevention, collections and retention
  • Manage and optimize direct mail, digital / affiliate, and other marketing channels to acquire profitable borrowers
  • Develop and manage credit policy, underwriting and verification models, and loan offer strategies, including implementation of sampling / testing procedures to enable long-term optimization of approval decisions, offer amounts, pricing and loan term for different customer segments
  • Develop unit-level profitability analysis and loan loss forecasting to track and optimize performance of various portfolio segments such as acquisition channel, customer type (new vs. previous), geography, and risk tier
  • Execute on a disciplined growth strategy that properly balances short-term vs. long-term profitability and appropriately mitigates credit risk
  • Collaborate with Finance to set volume and performance projections and explain variance in actual vs. forecasted resultsCollaborate with Technology to build on the existing Analytics infrastructure to support continuous testing / optimization and streamlined implementation of new models and strategies
  • Manage existing Analytics vendors (i.e. credit reporting agencies and other 3rd party data providers) and proactively identify new data sources to further enhance decisioning
  • Attract, hire, manage and mentor top tier Credit Risk, Analytics, Data Science and Business Intelligence professionals
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision making throughout the organization and assist other teams in their efforts to ensure high data integrity and sound analysis
  • Stay ahead of the curve on new modeling and optimization technologies / processes, industry trends and best practices

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience building and leading data and analytics teams in fast-paced environment; strong preference for 5+ years of unsecured consumer lending experience
  • BA (MA preferred) in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics or other quantitative field, or equivalent work experience
  • Consumer credit marketing analytics, credit strategy development, and portfolio risk management experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Federal Fair Lending statutes and best practices
  • Relationship builder who can establish trust, confidence and credibility with senior leaders, executives, and direct reports
  • Ability to leverage past, relevant success to immediately drive value for our team, our customers and our business

Our company is located in the heart of downtown with great access to public transportation (both Metra & CTA), coffee shops, and restaurants. Currently our teams are working remotely for the foreseeable future.
