What is a Compliance Analyst?
At Clearcover, our Compliance Analyst will be the newest team member of our growing in-house Legal & Compliance team! The Compliance Analyst will be detail oriented, able to multitask and prioritize assignments, and work directly with various departments: Operations, Legal, People, and Customer Experience.

Our Compliance Analyst will be organized, conduct audits as needed, stay up to date on compliance news and regulations, and assist with internal business unit needs. Clearcover has a fast-paced startup culture and we hope that this person will continue to grow with our team as our business needs evolve! 

What will you do?

  • Track, research and respond to Consumer Complaints, Better Business Bureau Complaints, and Department of Insurance Complaints, at the direction and oversight of the Compliance Manager and Senior Counsel of the department, and maintain accurate documentation of all Complaints and Responses;
  • Input and Maintain Licensing Appointments in the Company Portal, including Independent Agents and Partner Agencies. Conduct targeted audits to reconcile information provided by Independent and Partner Agencies to verify licensing & ownership, as well as identify any prior negative work product or issues;
  • Assist with regularly scheduled Internal Mock Market Conduct Exams/Audits of internal business units, including the gathering of data and information to help with scoring metrics the Legal & Compliance Department places on internal business units;
  • Assist with State DOI Market Conduct Exams, including the gathering of data and information to assist with formal responses to Market Conduct Exams, as well as a review of any similar or prior Market Conduct Exams.
  • Assist with implementation of corrective actions internally to ensure future compliance; 
  • Conduct internal compliance testing across internal business units to ensure compliance with internal company policies and procedures, as well as legal and external regulatory requirements;
  • Conduct regularly scheduled audits of Company written automobile policies, forms and notices;
  • Assist in research and coordination of responses to regulatory inquiries, including Premium Surveys, DOI Interrogatories, and preparation of NAIC Market Conduct Annual Statements;
  • Stay up to date with any new laws or regulations via APCIA daily update related to states that Company writes business in, or will be writing business in going forward; and
  • Participate in any special compliance projects or internal data gathering at the direction of Compliance Manager and/or Senior Counsel

What do you need?

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Education Required;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the regulatory and compliance side of the industry, preferably in an insurance company or corporate law department;
  • Excellent Communication and Analytical skills;
  • Detail-oriented person who can manage multiple on-going projects at the same time;
  • Takes direction well and can work both independently and collaboratively with a team;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word, Outlook, Excel, Access); and 
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting statutory and/or administrative codes and regulations

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance;
  • Experience handling internal audits;
  • Knowledge generally of Underwriting and Claims Practices; and 
  • Taken course(s) and/or attended Seminars on regulatory and compliance matters in the past
