Job Description

We’re looking for a Contract Analyst to join the Contract Management Team at Nielsen in support of our USA clients. This is a fast paced, high volume, high performing team and the applicant will work directly with our Professional Service (Sales), Finance, and Legal functions to help lead creation, modification, and finalization of appropriate sell side licensing agreements for our customers.  The position is high visibility as it is critical to revenue recognition. 

 

The Team is in the process of implementing the Apttus Contract Lifecycle Management System (CLM) to automate the complete contract lifecycle, streamline approval process, and integrate the contractual information.  Over time this will effectively redefine and elevate the team’s responsibilities and duties to have more of a focus on being a business consultant and coach to sales teams on contract related matters, and on the writing of complex, non-standard terms.  

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Draft, review, and release contracts and amendments that are in compliance with company approved guidelines

  • Create and communicate concise and consistent contract provisions

  • Devise logical approaches and suggestions to address complex contractual issues

  • Maintain a high level of accuracy by:

    • Ensuring contract language incorporates all submitted and authorized specifications

    • Documenting and archiving all required backup materials 

  • Support Sales team efforts during the contract strategy and negotiation process

  • With assistance, effectively manage and prioritize assigned workload

  • Work collaboratively with other Contract Management team members

  • Work cross-functionally and collaborate with other functions such as Sales, Legal, Audit, IT, Billing, Finance, Security, etc. to ensure contract provisions meet their requirements

    • Appropriately engage Legal and Finance contacts for review of non-standard language

  • Exercise judgment in handling exceptions to standard procedures

  • Enter mandatory field information to the contract database and other trackers

  • Learn Apttus CLM system and use it effectively

  • Identify and recommend potential process and standard language improvement opportunities while adhering to Audit compliance and legal parameters

 

Qualifications:

 

  • 2+ years experience writing commercial contracts in a corporate environment required

    • 2+ years related experience in procurement or sales support is a plus

  • Superior written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Proven ability to multi-task and adhere to tight deadlines

  • Superior organizational skills; detail oriented

  • Able to understand and enforce process and audit requirements

  • Proven ability to work independently and handle tasks from start to finish

  • Accountable, results driven and open to new ideas and on-going learning

  • Ability to work well with own client portfolio and within a team, as well as cross functionally with Legal, Finance, Pricing, etc. with people at all levels of the company

  • Capable of independent decision making, flexible and collaborative approach to problem solving for complex contract terms and conditions

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel) experience required

  • Google experience (Docs, Sheets) is a plus

  • Working knowledge of accounting principles is a plus

  • Contract lifecycle management system (CLM) and/or SalesForce experience is a plus

  • BA or BS in Business, Accounting or related field or Paralegal experience preferred
