Cars.com is looking for a detail-oriented Analyst to join the Customer Analytics team. The right candidate will be curious, creative, and forward thinking. This role is instrumental in helping to drive the discovery and delivery of data-driven insights to support the sales team and the growing needs of the business. The Analyst will work closely with the sales team to provide thoughtful analyses and reporting for our OEM customer base. The ideal candidate will have experience with different reporting and analytics tools and will help tell the story as it relates to customer performance. This position involves ongoing collaboration, communication, knowledge and idea sharing with the sales team as well as other parts of the business. 

In this role, the individual will:

  • Define and solve problems with minimal supervision: collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and offer recommendations in a wide variety of situations
  • Produce analyses and insights that address sales needs and answer client questions related to:
    • Industry and site trends related to the automotive shopping process
    • Advertiser performance
    • Demonstrating Cars.com's value related to other marketing mediums
  • Utilize Tableau Dashboards, Business Objects and Adobe Analytics to demonstrate Cars.com product performance and produce relevant insights
  • Provide advice and training to sales teams in pulling basic canned reports in Tableau, Adobe Analytics, BOBI, ComScore and other tools
  • Develop and maintain relationships with the Sales, Product Marketing and Data Warehouse teams
  • Complete ad hoc requests from other functions as necessary
  • Demonstrate a high level of business acumen and be able to make decisions on their own
  • Think outside-the-box in a creative manner, tailor ideas for a target audience and share/spread enthusiasm around an idea
  • Collaborate with team members to create a 360 degree view of our customers

 Required Skills:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to translate data analysis into compelling messages for various sales and marketing channel efforts
  • Ability to quickly organize content into a clear and compelling message
  • Ability to learn and become highly proficient with Tableau for analysis and development of dashboards
  • Ability to master queue reporting via Salesforce
  • Ability and passion for learning comScore, DFP, Adobe Analytics and Business Objects
  • Desire to become a department subject matter expert for all syndicated tool methodologies, BOBI metric definitions and report creation
  • Comfort with working independently
  • Good project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines and competing priorities
  • Active listener with the ability to ask the right questions
  • A curious mind with a thirst for discovery and answers
  • Comfort with presenting data to clients and ability to travel 1-2 times per quarter
  • Must be positive, professional, organized and a team player

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 1-2 years minimum of professional experience
  • Experience working with numbers and analyzing large data sets to effectively make recommendations
  • Advanced MS Excel and PPT skills required
  • Experience with web analytics tools such as Adobe and Google Analytics a plus
  • Experience with marketing researching tools such as comScore and eMarketer a plus
  • Automotive or B2B experience a plus
  • Experience engaging directly with Customers/Clients a plus
  • Digital media experience a plus
