ABOUT US:

ShopRunner connects customers to brands they love with a membership service providing benefits across 140+ online stores. Member benefits include free fast shipping, 2-click checkout, free returns, and updates on product trends.

Retailers benefit from our engaged and savvy membership base, along with our marketing technology tools that include email personalization and real-time consumer notifications (out of stock, trending items, and cart abandonment). We offer plug-and-play retailer integrations enabling express checkout, inventory management, and social marketplace feeds, along with insights into buying behavior and consumer preferences. We’re here to empower retailers to take their place in the evolving retail landscape.

We’re headquartered in Chicago and have offices in Conshohocken, New York, San Mateo and Krakow. We hustle to get things done, creating wins for customers, merchants and each other.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The ShopRunner Analytics team uses data to inform product and marketing decisions across the organization and to help retailers measure ShopRunner’s value to their business. This role reports to the manager of retailer-facing analytics and will help us draw important insights about our core business from complex behavioral data. You’ll monitor our data quality for account managers, simulate product decisions for internal execs, and help standardize and scale our reporting across our network of retail partners.

We are looking for strong expertise in exploratory data analysis, SQL skills, and confidence in explaining inferences from occasionally messy datasets. It will be helpful if you have experience tailoring your ideas to communicate with many levels of technical expertise.

ABOUT WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Use data from web analytics, CRM, and e-commerce shopping cart feeds to identify and explain how member attributes and behaviors correlate with retailer value, membership growth, churn reduction, and product engagement.
  • Monitor and simulate business and operational metrics.
  • Troubleshoot anomalies to identify root causes of changes.
  • Help calibrate alerts to flag real problems while avoiding false alarms.
  • Contribute to data hygiene processes with engineers and implementation specialists.

ABOUT WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

Required:

  • 2+ years in a data analyst role querying and analyzing high-volume data.
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical field like Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Marketing Analytics, or equivalent experience.
  • Conceptual understanding of tracking and troubleshooting event-level data with web analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or ad tracking pixels. We primarily use Snowplow Analytics.
  • SQL expertise: you should be comfortable analyzing millions of rows of data with complex joins, subqueries, and window functions.
  • Comfort using data manipulation tools. Excel pivot tables should be easy for you. The pandas python package and the tidyverse R packages should be interesting to you, if you are not familiar with them.
  • Experience with data cleaning and preprocessing to identify and manage incomplete and messy records.
  • Experience with a data visualization tool, like any of the following: Looker (our primary dashboarding tool), Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, matplotlib, ggplot, or D3.
  • Ability to work and manage projects independently, and confidence recommending paths forward when faced with ambiguity.

Preferred:

  • Experience working across multiple business functions
  • Conceptual understanding of topics in statistics and machine learning, like statistical significance and power, randomized testing, and models for regression and classification.
  • Experience with data monitoring and administering data alerts.

* We are unable to provide sponsorship for this role.

We want you to bring your whole human self to work every single day. We accept you for who you are and consider everyone on an equal opportunity basis without regard to race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status.
