Responsibilities include:

• Create the large-scale plans that define the life cycle of our corporate data
• Engage in creating advanced big-data models
• Work closely with the entire data engineering team to ensure that data flows effectively and efficiently through our systems
• Help to maintain the integrity and security of the company’s data lakes
• Recommend data structures based on the data storage and retrieval needs of each department
• Monitor the flow of data from beginning to end--ensuring that data moves cleanly through all stages of processing
• Take a lead role in defining and measuring Data Quality.  If the data is wrong, it doesn’t matter how quickly it can be processed
• Take a lead role in the data engineering team by providing mentoring and guidance through design reviews, data analysis and data-process analysis, best practices, and technical vision. Lead by example
• Jump in and solve the most complex technical problems and data issues. Initiate and lead data refactoring efforts
• Being a top-notch Data Engineer on the team, capable of deep diving into implementation details of data processes across the technology stack
• Oversee the migration of data (and processes) from legacy system to new solutions

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• B.S. / M.S. Computer Science or equivalent, with strong fundamentals and problem-solving skills (such as data structures, computational algorithms, and operating systems)
• 5 years of experience in Data Analysis or management role. A track record of building highly scalable, high-quality Data Warehouses in a direct-to-consumer business. Should had played a critical role in the development of such systems
• Expertise with Python and preferably PySpark
• Expertise in working with Big Data technologies: Parquet files, Jupyter Notebooks, Hive, Hue
• Expertise in relational database design, practical experience of developing systems with NoSQL/MongoDB/Couchbase
• Experience in developing or working with machine learning pipelines (TensorFlow is a plus)
• Experience with AWS or other public cloud provider, containerized deployments, Kubernetes, and working in DevOPS environment
• Expertise in existing Data Lineage and Data Cataloging tools
