Trexin Consulting is currently seeking a Data Architect to join our team and consult at our Healthcare clients. 

 

Key Desired Skills, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Strong communication skills: ability to be well-organized, clear and concise in conversations and written communications.
  • Ability to articulate tradeoffs, strengths and weaknesses of various architectural patterns to determine the best framework or pattern to use given various use cases and requirements constraints (e.g., required response times, nature of batch vs. real-time flows).
  • Knowledge of mistakes commonly made by less-experienced architects when first implementing architectures
  • Hands on experience planning migration of legacy data sources
  • Ability to create clear, expert-level architectural diagrams using Visio, and clear narrative presentations using PowerPoint.

 

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Understand current state architecture, including pain points.
  • Understand and, where appropriate, contribute to future state guidelines and vision.
  • Create and document future state architectural options to address specific issues or initiatives.
  •  Maintain in-depth and current knowledge of client’s strategies, business issues and relationships.
  • Serve as a solutions-based expert, internally and externally, by applying consultative problem solving skills.
  • Remain current on competitive trends in the healthcare industry (Payer and Provider preferred) to anticipate and identify new business challenges and issues at assigned clients.

 

Specific Data Architectural Responsibilities:

  • Work with both technical and business stakeholders to understand data needs for projects.  Attend requirement sessions when necessary, communicating any concerns to project leadership.
  • Perform any of the following as needed: requirement analysis, data profiling, effort estimation for database and data warehouse design and development.
  • Provide thought leadership around the use of healthcare industry standard tools and models (including commercially available models and tools) by leveraging past experience and current healthcare industry trends
  • Provide guidance on the creation and best practices around Data Governance, Data Stewardship and overall Data Quality initiatives and processes as part of the overall data effort
  • Translate complex technical terminology, concepts and issues in terms understandable to technical and nontechnical management and resources staff.
  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, database and data warehouse architectures.
  • Ensure project adheres to client’s data and database standards and policies.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Architect and client IT team as warranted to establish and implement strategic initiatives.
  • Make recommendations and assess proposals for database optimization.
  •  Identify operational issues, and recommend and implement strategies to resolve problems.

Desired Skills and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Healthcare industry experience working with named, large Payers, Providers or, preferably, both either in industry or as a consultant
  • Ability to design Hadoop ecosystem and data warehousing solutions that can take large volumes of structured and unstructured data and rapidly generate meaningful reports and/or support ongoing analytical needs
  • Thorough knowledge of database design and tuning with standard tools.
  • Knowledge of current healthcare industry models and tools available in the marketplace, e.g. Oracle Healthcare Data Model, Teradata Healthcare Model, and IBM Health Plan Data Model (HPDM)
  • Experience implementing operational and dimensional logical and physical design for Data Marts, Data Warehouse and Business intelligence solutions
  • Experience architecting and designing solutions that leverage Master Data Management (MDM), Reference Data Management, Integration solutions, Operational Data Stores (ODS), and Analytic Data Stores (ADS)
  • Experience with healthcare industry (Payer and Provider) data analytics needs and trends
  • Experience in identifying and documenting data integration issues, challenges such as duplicate data, non-conformed data, and unclean data including both internal and external data sources
  • Experience in identifying, analyzing and translating business requirements into conceptual, logical and physical data models in complex, multi-application environments.
  • Excellent data analysis skills using SQL.
  • Experience in creating, reviewing and presenting Source Systems Analysis and Source To Target mapping across Staging, Integration and Presentation layers
  • Experience in Data analysis/profiling and reverse engineering of data.
  • Experience in delivering quality work on time with multiple, competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to interface with development team members, business analysts, and project management.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
