The Role: Americas Managed Investment Data requires a Data Relationship Manager to drive and deepen Morningstar's industry relationships with Asset Managers, Data Providers, Regulators, Fund Associations and Clients in North America.
In this role you will monitor regional and global market trends to continuously enhance Morningstar's data quality and scope, while demonstrating Morningstar's data capabilities. You will collaborate closely with product, research, technology, and Client teams to identify new data opportunities and to ensure that new data and analytics are successfully implemented. You will be the voice of Morningstar Data.
This position may be located in our Chicago, New York, Toronto or Oakland, MD offices; we will also consider candidates working remotely in the United States where Morningstar is registered to conduct business.
Responsibilities:

• Serve as lead expert in Morningstar's investment data and delivery, covering the wide-ranging managed investment dataset including regulatory requirements, ESG, collections, calculations, and methodology
• Manage relationships with retirement sponsors, record keepers, asset managers and data providers to maintain consistent data acquisition channels and processes
• Author documentation to drive data acquisition projects, Go-To-Market activities, RFP bids and overall enhancements to Morningstar's database to continuously meet growing client and industry needs for data quality and relevance
• Work collaboratively with Global cross-functional teams and broad audiences to facilitate discovery and design of innovative client solutions
• Participate in team and organizational activities to define and deliver the managed investment data strategy as it synchronizes with overall business roadmap
• Monitor competitor behavior, trends and services; identify opportunities for Morningstar to grow our competitive advantage and report on these to senior leaders
• Understand and analyze business requirements and write detailed user stories to explain a changes to the database
• Collaborate with global colleagues and teams managing investment datasets in every market in the World

Basic Qualifications:

• 4+ years of experience in strategic account management, client service, data operations or project management
• Exceptional interpersonal skills with an eye for typographical nuance in qualitative and quantitative data sets
• Expert command of identifying and specifying appropriate data patterns and methodology/collection conventions to solve common problems
• Proactive, strategic, and creative thinker with a collaborative approach to problem-solving and project management; demonstrated ability to develop strong internal and external partnerships and relationships.

• Exceptional technical, presentation, and consultative skills; ability to identify areas for improvement and executes process improvements.
• A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Solid understanding of the financial industry and passionate about investment data
• Experience with SQL, data lake or Python is a huge plus
