Imagine what you could help us achieve as a Data Specialist! 

Zoro is seeking a Data Specialist to play a key role in the design, development and operations of our new analytics platform. S/he will act as primary liaison to our business partners, from understanding their reporting & analytic needs to training them on new data structures and visualization tools.

Job Responsibilities Include:

  • Collaborate with key business partner groups (e.g. Marketing, Finance) to understand their needs and work with Data Engineers to build them into the new Zoro analytics platform
    • Coordinate requirement gathering
    • Identify best data sources
    • Determine metrics, attributes and history needed
    • Convert business needs to functional and technical requirements
    • Develop and lead training efforts
  • BI & Analytics tool lead
    • Facilitate selection of tool standards (e.g. visualization, metadata, machine-learning)
    • Coordinate installation, configuration & administration
    • Assemble, and develop/lead where appropriate, training resources and programs
  • Lead effort to develop and populate a new Data Dictionary, containing company-wide definitions & formulas for key business terms
  • Grow into the acknowledged department business & source system data expert
  • Key contributor to defining and implementing:
    • Data Services
    • Data Governance
    • Data Lineage
    • MDM
    • Policies, SOPs & Best Practices
    • Quality Program
  • Ongoing data request intake, triage and assignment

Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Experience collecting requirements and converting to functional and technical requirements
  • Strong analytical skills, detail oriented, and passionate about data and the insight it brings
  • Hands on BI tool development expertise
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Excellent verbal and written communications. Ability to effectively communicate with both technical & non-technical team members and all levels of management
  • Strong team player
  • Working knowledge of eCommerce data a plus
  • Google Cloud Platform services experience a plus

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple activities with varying timelines

To qualify, you must possess the following skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar technical discipline (e.g. Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance)
  • 10 years’ advanced reporting and dashboards experience
  • Key resource on team(s) that have delivered successful enterprise-level analytics platforms
