Description
JOB PURPOSE: The Data Governance Sr. Manager leads and manages all Cat Digital data governance activities and has responsibility for improving the quality and managing the protection of sensitive data and information assets. The position establishes and ensures adherence to a data governance framework for data policies, standards, and regulatory compliance to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall business needs, customer expectations, and regulatory demands. The Data Governance Sr. Manager serves as a point of escalation for governance, data quality, compliance, and protection issues and will work closely with Cat Digital and business unit leadership to improve the quality and value of core data assets as well as support the strategic requirements of Cat Digital.
JOB DUTIES:
Establish and govern a Cat Digital data governance implementation roadmap including strategic priorities for development of policies, procedures, organization, and capabilities.
Roll out Cat Digital data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of regulatory and legal compliance, data quality, efficiency, and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior, policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, and related tools.
Define roles and responsibilities related to data governance and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s data.
Coordinate and facilitate a Data Governance Council composed of department heads from Cat Digital and business units to escalate issues and resolve conflicts related to data governance policies and procedures.
Own business processes and facilitate compliance with EP 2.30.
Manage and ensure consistency in data rights agreements for both inbound and outbound data.
Develop and manage customer consent processes and tools and develop compliance metrics for dealer processes.
Work with data owners and technology owners to ensure that data related business requirements for protecting sensitive data are clearly defined, communicated and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
Develop & maintain inventory of customer, dealer, and asset data, including authoritative systems and data owners.
Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across Cat Digital.
Define indicators of conformance and quality metrics.
Ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities.
Provide progress reports to the Digital Council and oversee periodic updates to the data governance roadmap
Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a four year accredited degree in a related field ideally in IT, mathematics, statistics, or computer science, or equivalent experience.
15+ years of progressively complex experience generally gained through staff and supervisory assignments in the digital field and related areas.
Knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets, and approaches related to data protection.
Knowledge of data related legal and regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues
Top Candidates Will Have:
3+ years directly leading a data governance strategy
Experience dealing with both external and internal stakeholder data related to a digital/IoT initiative
Recognized subject matter expert able to influence the way things are done
Ability to articulate vision of transformation efforts and a sense of mission
Ability to manage senior relationships across all the business and functional areas
The preferred location for this role will be Peoria, IL. If the role were to be located in Chicago it would require significant time spent in Peoria up to 75% to be closer to both internal and external key stakeholders this role will interact.
