As the Digital Data Quality Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of experienced data engineers and data scientists that are developing some of our most advanced data processing pipelines to ensure data is usable and provides the highest level of insights to our digital applications.
JOB DUTIES:
This position has full accountability for the design and engineering of data quality frameworks, libraries, and pipelines within Caterpillar’s Digital Platform; leading the team responsible for interpreting data quality requirements, sampling source inputs to determine optimal methods, and the engineering of quality routines. This team will be focused on Caterpillars most valuable, yet challenging data domains, where improving data quality goes beyond rule validations, requiring data science approaches to reach quality targets (completeness, conformity, consistency, and accuracy/integrity). This position and team frequently interface with Digital Data Product Owners, Data Modeling and Design, Platform and Data Engineering, and Architecture to ensure the data quality methods and routines appropriately enable Digital Use Cases, while also being generally reusable and meeting non-functional requirements.
This position manages a team of management and professional employees where some review of subordinate work is required, as well as training, development and mentoring. This position is responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of subordinates, as well as overall employee satisfaction.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer or information management or related degree
- 10+ years’ experience working in data quality and/or data engineering field
- Comprehensive experience establishing data quality measurements and improvement methods
- Experience in data mining principles: predictive analytics, mapping, collecting data from multiple data systems
- Understanding of and experience using analytical concepts and statistical techniques: hypothesis development, designing tests/experiments, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, developing ground truth, and using feedback loops.
- Experience and knowledge of statistical modeling techniques: GLM multiple regression, logistic regression, log-linear regression, variable selection, etc
- 3+ years of experience leading teams
Top candidates will have:
- Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in computer or data science
- Strong understanding and experience in many of the following
- Database technologies on AWS – Relational, Key-value, In-memory, Blockchain
- ETL and data pipeline design
- Data modeling experience
- Architectures for complex data processing
- Understanding of object-oriented design
- Understanding of software development lifecycle
- Programming experience, especially Python
- Strong business acumen and/or business analyst experience to translate business goals into technical requirements especially related to customer and equipment data
- Experience working within an Agile Framework (ideally Scrum)
- Ability to work under pressure and within time constraints
- Passion for technology and an eagerness to contribute to a team-orientated environment
- Demonstrated leadership on medium to large-scale projects impacting strategic priorities
