DATA STRATEGIST
Description
As a Data Strategist the position will govern marketing data & consent compliance, develop and maintain data reporting, and data management & governance practices to marketing within Global Construction & Infrastructure’s Marketing Division. Ensuring the data is governed and managed to meet by country marketing, legal, information security, data privacy, digital & marketing data consent compliance, sanctioned customer compliance, and document retention standards is the job responsibility. With data privacy laws changing across the globe, this position will be knowledgeable of these laws and Caterpillar corporate policies and apply practices to ensure the marketing department data management follows global laws and Caterpillar enterprise standards. This position will work closely with Global Marketing & Brand to ensure Caterpillar policies and procedures are followed, manage internal compliance requests and approvals, represent Marketing during compliance audits, and work with our Construction Industries Compliance Management team.
With the importance of marketing analytics and driving effective return-on-marketing investment, this position will also enable management of the Marketing & Sales Excellence program metrics, and data integration into the CRM platform including Lead and Opportunity Management, Marketing to Sales Attribution Process, and various Lead Source Integration. The Data Strategist will report monthly marketing dashboards and metrics for the globe across construction products, and work the sales teams in support of the Annual Business Planning process. This position will consult with others ensuring data connections to platforms where it is easily consumed.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
50% - Define the data governance standards for marketing. Work with peers to ensure marketing data is reporting accurately and understanding of data is clear across the division. Work closely with CRM and Cat.com Strategists so information accurately reports on global basis. Ensure marketing consent and data compliance with the latest data standards supported by the company, marketing, legal, information security (data security and privacy compliance), and GDPR. Identify missing or incorrect data and data standards. Lead Data Privacy Efforts for the division to ensure proper implementation. Ensure Marketing is not engaging with customers on the Customer Sanctioned List and controls are in place to ensure compliance. Incumbent will be able to take direction for other data related duties as provided by the leadership team. Represent Marketing in on-going data compliance & marketing audits.
40% - Tracking metrics to measure the impact of marketing activities on achieving Marketing ROI & strategic goals; testing, coordinating, sending and analyzing and interpreting data on marketing campaigns; providing team with regular reporting for New Customers, Leads, Participation, Sales Conversions (e.g., monthly/quarterly) by region & source; pulling individual reports as needed, including marcom metrics requests; creating, updating, and maintaining reports in Tableau, PowerBI, and Einstein Analytics and the Dealer Collaboration Community.
Utilize tools to analyze marketing data for monthly reporting on a global and regional basis. Monitor and act on any workflow requests for new, changed, or removal of data. Interact with people from multiple geographic locations to determine the correct actions for data changes and management. Maintain knowledge of functional technology of the data management systems as they change with upgrades and new releases. Assist regions on Ready-to-Buy Analysis in key markets and work to automate the Ready-to-Buy process into the Salesforce platform with Einstein Analytics. Implement data integration from marketing sources across the globe to feed marketing analytics and CRM platforms.
10% - Other duties as assigned; assisting with training; assist with the management of platform licenses, system access, and user profiles. Assist with presentations for leaders and others to influence direction and assist with organization change management for digital needs and implement appropriate user experience.
Employee may also be responsible for performing other job duties occasionally as assigned.
Minimal travel required (10-30%)
Qualifications
Basic Qualification:
* Bachelor’s degree
* 7-10 years of progressively responsible marketing/digital job experience
* Working history with GDPR, Customer Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, and Marketing Compliance
* Working history with marketing data, CRM, Microsoft Office Products, Tableau, PowerBI, Google Analytics and SEO/SEM

* Ability to research, read, analyze, and understand State, Federal, and Country laws, regulations, and standards with regards to data privacy, CAN-SPAM compliance, marketing consent, and CRM marketing best practices
* Familiarity with Einstein Analytics systems, Percolate, COGNOS, Datorama
* B2B and B2C experience
* Strong customer focus
* Excellent presentational, numeracy, literacy skills.
* Familiar with project management methodologies
