As a Database Administrator on the Echo Global Logistics team, you will contribute to database management of large scale web-based applications to enable Echo’s business while supporting architectural vision of quality, scalability, performance and function. Our proprietary software is created with the goal to simplify transportation for our customers and carriers, and is one of our largest competitive advantages in an ever growing market.

Our team has recently been ranked the third largest digital company by employee size in Chicago and we are continuing to see increased growth in virtually all of our technical teams. Responsibilities:

Database Administrator’s work in conjunction with Software Engineers, Business Analysts, Quality Assurance and DevOps Engineers

  • Contributes to maintaining Echo databases in conjunction with data development and software engineering teams
  • Core focus is on Microsoft SQL and SQL SRVR with related tool SSIS, SSRS, SSAS only -7-20 years minimum experience
  • Very strong performance tuning and capacity planning skills
  • 5-15 years of ETL hands on experience
  • 24/7 Always On enterprise level experience mandatory 
  • Version control and automation experience of at least 3-5 years hands on
  • Schema design and Powershell with at least 3 years recent experience 
  • Minimum level of DB size should be at least 1-5 Terabytes --currently running at 5-100 TB's of current data management experience helpful
  • Taking ownership over performance monitoring, tuning, identifying and fixing issues within database realm
  • Take pride in troubleshooting, identifying current state issues and providing solutions
  • Deal heavily within SQL transactional replications and working within disaster recovery
  • General understanding of SAN technologies and 3rd party monitoring tools
  • Proven track record in working in a fast paced environment

Position Requirements

  • 7+ years in commercial-grade business applications environment leveraging the following:
    • SQL Server Database Administration 2008, 2012, 2014
    • Toubleshooting
    • Production servers, SSIS packages
  • 5-7 years in SQL transactional replication
  • General understanding of SAN technologies and 3rd party monitoring tools
