ThinkMarkets is a global online brokerage firm, specializing in Foreign Exchange, Derivatives and Equities trading. We are in search of a talented Database Engineer to join the engineering team that is responsible for building our next generation trading and risk systems.

The Trading Systems DB Engineer will be working closely with software engineers and systems engineers to develop and refine our trading platform.  The ideal candidate must be comfortable working in a heterogeneous database environment -- comfortable jumping from Oracle to MySQL and vice versa. A successful candidate will apply extensive technical expertise of databases and data warehousing and will develop technical solutions to complex problems with ingenuity and creativity.  

Responsibilities:

• Design and refine the data model for the capture of order and trade transactional data
• Work with development team to evaluate and evolve legacy systems
• Work with software engineers to take ownership of data integrity and data quality
• Work with systems engineers to develop and maintain the replication, backup, and restoration of data within the system
• Design queries used to generate scheduled reports for customer account statements and backoffice integrations
• Take ownership of monitoring the reliability and performance of critical database processes
• Implement and enforce database security based upon best practice, industry regulations, and company policies

Requirements:

• 4+ years database engineering experience on Oracle platform
• 4+ years database engineering experience on mySQL platform
• Expertise in writing, tuning, and understanding SQL queries used in transactional systems
• Comfortable writing Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures, views, and triggers
• Experience with deploying databases in a globally distributed environment
• Experience working with trading systems is a big plus
• Experience working with MS SQL Server is a plus
• Experience in designing data warehouse solutions is a plus
• Experience working with InfluxDb or another time series databases is a plus
• Degree in Computer Engineering, IT Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
