Director of Data and Analytics
Jellyvision is hiring a Director of Data and Analytics
Jellyvision’s headquarters is in Chicago, and, post-COVID, many of us will be returning to the Chicago offices (by choice, not requirement -- our philosophy is “Flexible First”). But this position is also eligible for work by a remote employee out of CA, FL, GA, IL, KY, MA, MI, MN, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TX, UT, WA, or WI.
Who we are
We’re the proud parents of ALEX®, an interactive employee communications platform that makes choosing (and using) employee benefits easier and more enjoyable. Our credo is a simple one: be helpful. And we think the best way to achieve that is with a staff that reflects the vast range of ideas, perspectives, and experiences of the millions of people who use our products.
How you’ll help
The Product team is responsible for understanding the market context and driving the product roadmap to execute the business strategy. This role is a key part of that team with a focus on data for two purposes - the way we use data to better run our business and the way we use data to provide more value to our customers. The Director of Data and Analytics will prioritize and drive initiatives for both of these purposes. The Director of Data and Analytics will be responsible for prioritizing the backlog of work for our data engineers and data scientists, working closely with product managers across the portfolio and other key partners (in finance and revenue especially).
What you’ll do
Drive execution of initiatives across the entire data pipeline, from data creation/ingestion to end-user consumption, that will deliver substantial ROI to business. Prioritize initiatives based on business strategy and expected impact, ensure our team of data scientists, data engineers, and data analysts are working a backlog aligned to those priorities and executing as a team to deliver value.
- Feed a quarterly customer business review with a meaningful set of data to customers that demonstrates user engagement and value provided by Jellyvision.
- Feed our internal BI presentation layer (Looker) with meaningful data from a variety of sources (Salesforce, Snowflake, Product databases, etc) to help us run the business better.
- Feed insights about the product’s performance to the Product Management team and other stakeholders.
- Prioritize exploration we should be doing with data science, machine learning, and innovative experiments that could add more value to the product portfolio. Focus and prioritize the effort here based on the business strategy and impact to the business.
- While this role does not have any direct reports, this person will be leading and directing the work of a team of ~5 data scientists and data engineers, and working closely with analysts and other stakeholders who are internal “customers” of the BI data. This leader must be capable of leading effectively across the organization.
