Director, Data Engineering
GoHealth is looking for a Director of Data Engineering to join as a leader of the Business Analytics function. You will be reporting to our VP of Engineering. You will be responsible for leading and guiding the work of the Data Engineering function, help create and lead strategy, and oversee team’s execution. You will effectively manage a team, provide high-level guidance on road maps and architectural work as well as derive analytical insights from a variety of business contexts, and communicate those insights effectively to a variety of other stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Manage, operate, and evolve GoHealth’s data pipelines
- Lead the design, development and deployment of optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from various GoHealth and external data sources
- Provide guidance for the short-team and long-term goals of the team, and ensure the team is contributing to GoHealth’s key objectives
- Ensure data quality and compliance with development, architecture, reporting, and regulatory standards throughout entire data pipeline
- Develop and continually refine data engineering best practices, guidelines, procedures, and repeatable and scalable frameworks
- Project management: prioritization, planning of projects and features, stakeholder management and tracking of associated commitments
- Collaborate with the rest of the Business Analytics team, subject matter experts and department leaders to understand, analyze, build, and deliver new data-related processes, reports, dashboards, and visualization
Skills and Experience:
- Master's or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related quantitative field
- 7+ years of experience driving data engineering solutions and 3+ years of hands-on experience managing data engineers
- Sound technical understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional data modeling
- Proven experience extracting data from structured data sources (SQL, Excel, CSV files, Couchbase) and unstructured data sources (Splunk, log files) both on-premise and in AWS
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting performance issues and fine-tuning SQL queries
- Experience in architecting data flows from web services, REST and SOAP, HTML, XML and JSON
- Knowledge of version control systems using Git, Bitbucket, SVN, or Team Foundation
- Experience in Python and Airflow
- Experience in Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, or Azure is preferred but not required
- Familiar with other data warehouse platforms like AWS Redshift or AWS Data Pipeline
