Reports to:  CISO / VP of Engineering, Operations, & Strategy

 

We’re looking for outstanding minds to help us build and drive our data privacy programs to support and protect business growth and product development. As the Director of Data Privacy, you will oversee all ongoing activities related to the development, implementation and maintenance of the organization’s privacy strategy and policies in accordance with application of international, federal, and state laws. This includes daily operations of the program and working in cross-functional groups to integrate privacy by design principles and data protection into Paylocity’s technology and solutions.

During the first six months, you will:

  • Begin building a strategic and comprehensive privacy program that defines, develops, maintains, and implements policies and processes that enable consistent, effective privacy practices 
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams building a strategic vision to address privacy security risks while supporting product innovation
  • Provide guidance on complex use cases involving international customers, new product features, and emerging state-based privacy regulations
  • Partner with Product & Technology, Information Security, Legal, Internal Audit, Government Services to envision, design, build, and implement privacy by design principles and strategies
  • Build and operate scalable processes to assess potential privacy and security risks and regulatory requirements related to Paylocity products, use of vendors, marketing and sales activities, and employee matters 
  • Develop a program to continuously monitor adherence to our privacy control framework
  • Dive deep into product initiatives, lead privacy compliance documentation and support compliance certifications.
  • Explore cutting edge global privacy and regulatory developments and drive the implementation of new privacy requirements in products and services, as well as privacy policies, procedures, trainings, and other communications materials
  • Assist HR, Product, and Marketing teams with developing marketing strategies and collateral to tell our privacy story
  • Be an evangelist inside Paylocity to help grow our culture of privacy

 

Required Experience: 

  • Professional experience in data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, or a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. and international privacy law, including GDPR, CCPA, EU Standard Contractual Clauses, HIPAA, state data protection and breach notification laws
  • In-house privacy, and/or product consulting experience in a Software / SaaS ecosystem (preferred) or an Internet/Tech/Data focused company, with increasing responsibility over time
  • Familiarity and interest in emerging digital technologies
  • Phenomenal at working collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Certifications: CIPP, CIPP/e a plus
  • Experience with developing risk management strategies related to privacy risk arising from data processing activities
  • Ability to understand and work with new and emerging technologies, including B2C and B2B segments
  • Demonstrated ability to clearly and concisely articulate issues, draft procedures and guidelines, design and track metrics, prepare and lead presentations on privacy topics
  • Bachelor’s degree
