Position Description:
The Director of Data Management serves as data expert within the Data Management organization and responsible for rollout of the data strategy. This position has the responsibility to define and develop a data strategy for Discover in partnership with various lines of business and technology organization, and creating an effective communication and training program ensuring enterprise wide adoption.
Responsibilities:
- Engages with senior leadership across Discover, both within Technology and Business to understand their data needs and help them understand the role of Data as a part of our overall strategy.
- Understands, defines, and describes why data is a key enterprise asset and how it can be used to serve our customers, drive efficiencies and innovation,
- Creates a multi-year roadmap to show how we plan to build enterprise-class data assets that will leverage cloud-based target-state technology platforms.
- Defines a path from current state to target state, creating presentations to illustrate concepts and describe our strategy.
- Champions and influences data strategy adoption across lines of businesses, and geographies.
- Lead communication across various the enterprise, lines of businesses and technology partners in rolling out the various components of the strategy, and enabling adoption.
- Responsible for supporting Operational excellence related data efforts coordinating across multiple business units and technology organization.
- Partner across organizations within data and analytics, risk, finance, architecture, and operations in developing frameworks strategy for all steps of data lifecycle from data acquisition to data delivery.
- Responsible for supporting Operational excellence related data efforts coordinating across multiple business units and technology organization.
- Serve as a point of contact to work closely with EPMO organization to assess alignment of major initiatives to the data strategy.
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience developing data strategies, roadmap development and communication strategies.
- Master’s degree in Information Systems Management or related field, or bachelor’s degree with relevant experience required.
- Strong communication skills to lead interactions with business and technology leaders across the lines of businesses.
- Experience working with various vendors, building partnerships, establishing communication plans, user forums, trainings, and roadmap sessions.
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end data lifecycle across traditional data warehouses, relational databases, operational data stores, business intelligence reporting, and big data analytics.
