Director of Strategy and Planning

Overview

The Marketing Store is currently seeking a brilliant and inspiring Sr. Director of Strategy and Planning to lead the development and implementation of brand activation strategies for some of the most famous brands in the world. Working closely with Creative and Account leadership, she/he will leverage intelligence and insights to orchestrate strategic planning and fuel ideas for impactful customer engagement programs and promotional marketing campaigns—programs and campaigns that compel consumers to take action on a mass scale, interact with brand experiences, and feel a more positive connection to the brand.

 

The Sr. Director of Strategy and Planning will immerse themselves in our key clients brand, conduct research, and analyze data to truly understand how best to disrupt and motivate consumer behavior to drive meaningful business results for our clients. He/she will establish themselves as a thought leader, educate and inspire others with impactful storytelling, incredibly insightful and interesting work, and by exhibiting a deep understanding of our client’s business, the industry, competition, culture, trends and consumers. She/He will work with a small team to capture and translate this intelligence and thinking into insightful and inspirational creative briefs, client presentations, knowledge share out sessions, brainstorms and more.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the development of brand activation strategies from inception to execution
  • Develop research plans and conduct qualitative and quantitative research
  • Understand and identify cultural, technological and social trends and their impact on attitudes and behaviors
  • Perform ongoing competitive and industry analysis
  • Facilitate and direct brainstorm sessions
  • Lead concept testing and research to optimize ideas and understand potential impact
  • Creation and presentation of thought leadership pieces
  • Manage and mentor other Strategic Planners
  • Write amazing creative briefs and client presentations
  • Partner with internal teams and clients to establish expertise and gain trust

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience with strategic planning in an agency environment
  • Experience managing other Strategic Planners
  • Experience working interacting with and presenting to senior level clients
  • Passionate about marketing and understanding human behavior and culture
  • Curious and enthusiastic
  • Persuasive with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Significant experience leading qualitative and quantitative research (conducting and commissioning) along with an understanding of different methodologies and approaches
  • Experience leveraging data to glean insights, evaluate programs, and inform strategic decisions
  • Experience leading ideation/brainstorm sessions
  • Experience with major research tools
  • Intimately familiar with digital channels and how consumers interact with digital and mobile

What are The Marketing Store Perks + Benefits

The Marketing Store Benefits Overview

TMS is incredibly flexible. We have summer hours from early May through late September. Outside of that, we have a work from home policy where we encourage employees to have a good work/life balance. Our benefits are effective the first day of hire-there’s no sort of waiting period! All of our medical plans are all PPO’s while still offering a wide variety of high deductibles and lower deductible plans. There are two dental plans that employee can pick from along with a vision plan. We have unique benefits such as pet insurance, organ donor leave, an extended parental leave, an adoptive leave policy, legal insurance, auto & home insurance, etc. Life insurance and AD&D is covered at not once the employee’s annual salary, but twice! We have tuition reimbursement to assist employees with going back to school and continuing to develop themselves. We also offer a student loan repayment plan to help employees with financial support to help reduce their loans. There’s an onsite gym that is free for employees with a full service locker that employees can take advantage off. There’s a wellness program that employees can partake in that is based off a point system where employees can turn those points into dollars and receive lots of cool, free gifts such as Amazon gift cards, apple watches, etc. A company perk program is offered where employees can sign up and get discounts off certain retail stores, flights, hotels, etc. A Referral bonus plan is offered to employees who refer employees to join the company. There’s an annual bonus and salary increase that dependent on company’s financials and employee performance. There are several gyms that we partner with to give a gym discount. There’s a traditional 401(k) plan that we offer with a match, but we also generously offer profit sharing an annual basis. We listen to our employees and align our benefit offerings to what they say they want!

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Employees can contribute up to $2750 annually to their FSA.
Disability Insurance
For both AD&D and life insuance, the company covers up to twice your annual salary without any cost to the employee. Employees are also able to buy up this insurance amount if they decide to.
