Director of Strategy and Planning
Overview
The Marketing Store is currently seeking a brilliant and inspiring Sr. Director of Strategy and Planning to lead the development and implementation of brand activation strategies for some of the most famous brands in the world. Working closely with Creative and Account leadership, she/he will leverage intelligence and insights to orchestrate strategic planning and fuel ideas for impactful customer engagement programs and promotional marketing campaigns—programs and campaigns that compel consumers to take action on a mass scale, interact with brand experiences, and feel a more positive connection to the brand.
The Sr. Director of Strategy and Planning will immerse themselves in our key clients brand, conduct research, and analyze data to truly understand how best to disrupt and motivate consumer behavior to drive meaningful business results for our clients. He/she will establish themselves as a thought leader, educate and inspire others with impactful storytelling, incredibly insightful and interesting work, and by exhibiting a deep understanding of our client’s business, the industry, competition, culture, trends and consumers. She/He will work with a small team to capture and translate this intelligence and thinking into insightful and inspirational creative briefs, client presentations, knowledge share out sessions, brainstorms and more.
Responsibilities
- Leading the development of brand activation strategies from inception to execution
- Develop research plans and conduct qualitative and quantitative research
- Understand and identify cultural, technological and social trends and their impact on attitudes and behaviors
- Perform ongoing competitive and industry analysis
- Facilitate and direct brainstorm sessions
- Lead concept testing and research to optimize ideas and understand potential impact
- Creation and presentation of thought leadership pieces
- Manage and mentor other Strategic Planners
- Write amazing creative briefs and client presentations
- Partner with internal teams and clients to establish expertise and gain trust
Desired Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of experience with strategic planning in an agency environment
- Experience managing other Strategic Planners
- Experience working interacting with and presenting to senior level clients
- Passionate about marketing and understanding human behavior and culture
- Curious and enthusiastic
- Persuasive with excellent written and oral communication skills
- Significant experience leading qualitative and quantitative research (conducting and commissioning) along with an understanding of different methodologies and approaches
- Experience leveraging data to glean insights, evaluate programs, and inform strategic decisions
- Experience leading ideation/brainstorm sessions
- Experience with major research tools
- Intimately familiar with digital channels and how consumers interact with digital and mobile
