The Role:

We are looking for a talented Head of Data Science to lead the development, implementation and optimization of the core machine learning models that drive our business at Braviant. You’ll lead a growing team of Data Scientists to expand our machine learning footprint in all areas of the business (Marketing, Product, Operations, Strategy etc). The right person for this role has strong technical skills with a background in machine learning and analytics. This individual will set strategy and vision in Data Science as a leader, mentor and coach to the rest of the team and all their collaborative partners.

What you will be doing:

• Partner with all aspects of the business (Marketing, Product, Operations, Strategy etc) to brainstorm opportunities to leverage data science to meet our business objectives.
• Prioritize data science initiatives, publish a roadmap, and get buy-in from executive stakeholders on the data science initiatives.
• Oversee the building of machine learning models through all phases of development, from problem framing, data gathering, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
• Own all hiring, onboarding, development, and career coaching for a team of data scientists.
• Lead and manage the data science functions to build out the tools needed across marketing, underwriting, verification and portfolio management.
• Use a diverse set of machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to action on new business opportunities and optimize existing strategies.
• Partner with Technology teams to build out data science pipelines to support continuous testing, optimization, and implementation of new models.
• Develop systems and routines to monitor model performance and ensure we are achieving the desired business outcomes.

What you'll bring:

• 8+ years of professional experience in data science with an emphasis on model building and modern machine learning techniques.
• 4+ years of experience managing, coaching, and mentoring other data scientists.
• Previous experience in banking, consumer credit or financial technology.
• Expert in open-source tools used for data manipulation and statistical analysis e.g., Python/R/SQL.
• Experience developing and analyzing A/B test results.
• Experience with end-to-end deployment of machine learning models.
• You believe in teamwork and are not afraid of rolling up your sleeves.
• Masters degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Engineering or another quantitative field.

What makes you stand out:

• Experience in any of the following: targeting/segmentation, direct mail, digital marketing, unsecured consumer lending, optimization, and lifetime value analysis.
• PhD in a quantitative field.
