As a Head of Data Science, you will be responsible for targeting audiences through both online and offline data, managing client needs, and implementing solutions to build brands. Other duties include providing thought leadership, anticipating project risks, and translating analytical science to optimizing and refining the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Tracks the competitive marketplace, business issues, and data challenges in order to deliver actionable insights, recommendations and business processes
  • Directs team toward analytical solutions that are highly marketable and/or have a broad (quantified) impact on the business
  • Manages staff, providing guidance, setting goals, and ensuring that overall department goals are attained
  • Leads project team to achieve milestones and objectives, and to deliver high-quality (fully tested) solutions
  • Sets strategic direction for the tools, technologies, methodologies, and skill sets employed by the company for use in solving problems with data science
  • Coordinates with technology partners to build and maintain systems necessary for the deployment of developed models and algorithms
  • Communicates chosen methodologies, analyses, and interpretation of model predictions to business stakeholders at the highest level, including flagship clients and other external stakeholders
  • Accountable for business/functional unit results and budget
  • Observes business problems and identifies those that are suitable to be solved by advanced analytics techniques
  • Conceptualizes potential solutions and manages team toward build a solution
  • Consistently motivates team toward successful completion of goals
  • Applies quantitative thinking to solve business problems
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a quantitative field, such as data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, finance, or economics and minimum 9 years of relevant professional and/or technical experience
  • Relevant experience managing a team
  • Advanced experience with cloud and distributed data and computing tools
  • Strong programming skills in one or more high-level languages (Python, R, Julia) commonly used for statistical modeling and machine learning
  • Experience leading a team through the full life cycle from data acquisition, modeling building through to deployment, and monitoring and revising models in a large-scale enterprise production environment
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, communication, management, leadership, and critical thinking skills
  • Explains highly technical concepts / methodologies in a way that can be understood by non-technical staff

  • Experience in the crypto (not required), tech or financial services sectors 
  • Experience working for a rapidly growing startup, and managing change 
  • Nimble business mind with a focus on developing creative solutions
  • Strong project reporting skills, with a focus on interdepartmental communication
