Investment Platform Business Capabilities Analyst - Wealth Management

The Business Capabilities Analyst plays an important role in the Wealth Management National Investment Practice by supporting the development and optimization of the investment platform. The investment platform is a suite of tools and capabilities utilized by WM investment advisors in management of HNW client portfolios, with ~300 billion in platform AUM. The Capabilities Analyst primarily supports new platform development, but also plays a role in BAU activities and production support. The Capabilities Analyst works closely with platform business owners to document development requirements and facilitate project execution through partnership with development teams (e.g., technology, data, vendors, etc.). The Capabilities Analyst will also support platform analytics through business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI, Cognos) and advanced excel functionality.

Key Tasks

Investment Platform Development

  • Assist in implementation of 'ideal state' platform to facilitate National Investment Practice and WM BU objectives
  • Work with platform business owners to define and document business requirements for development
  • Develop, manage and serve as primary owner of project roadmap execution
  • Partner with cross-BU development teams in execution of project roadmap
  • Build cross-BU relationships to advocate and influence in support of Investment Practice needs and initiatives
  • Assist in roadmap and budget planning across the WM Investment Practice
  • Participate in quarterly business review (QBR) process and develop supporting documents as needed
  • Assist in identification, tracking and reporting on platform Objective and Key Results (OKRs)
  • Solicit and help prioritize investment advisor feedback
  • Become a subject matter expert (SME) in platform areas you assisted in developing

Investment Platform BAU & Production Support

  • Assist in production environment oversight and facilitate remediation or escalation of critical issues
  • Develop relationships with technology support teams
  • Facilitate root cause analysis on platform issues
  • Liaise between front-office partners and platform developers where needed
  • Learn WM investment advisor job functions and front office use cases within the investment platform
  • Strive to become a SME across the investment platform

Investment Platform Analytics

  • Identify, track and report on platform Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Maintain oversight and tracking of internal and external platform service level agreements (SLAs)
  • Utilize business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI, Cognos) to develop executive reporting on platform KPIs and SLAs

Investment Practice Support

  • Partner across Investment Practice in support of Practice needs and initiatives
  • Support the Chief Investment Officer with special projects as needed
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated success in any of the following areas: Project/Program Management, Data Analytics, Investment Operations, Asset Servicing, Wealth Management
  • Advanced degree or investment certifications preferred

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills to manage complex projects required
  • Proficiency in advanced excel functions required (e.g., pivot tables)
  • Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI, Cognos) preferred
  • Experience in planning and project management preferred
  • Executive level presentation experience preferred
  • Proficiency in executive quality PowerPoint presentations preferred
  • Experience/understanding of wealth management ops across front/middle/back office preferred
  • Knowledge of capital markets: equity, fixed income, alternative investments and risk management principles preferred
