About the Non-Food Team:

The non-food data transformation team specializes in personal care/cosmetics, household cleaners, over-the-counter medications, dietary supplements, and other consumer products which are not edibles. As a team, we tap into that industry knowledge to develop high-quality data taxonomies and customer attribution which feeds Label Insight’s products. The team has a variety of science and industry related backgrounds which greatly helps when analyzing highly chemical ingredients or reading research on human health or the environment.

About the Role:

As an expert in non-food consumer products, you will conduct in-depth industry and regulatory research to develop your knowledge of products such as personal care, household cleaners, over-the-counter medicine, dietary supplements, and other non-food products. You will use your industry knowledge to create internal documentation, inform decisions on various cross-functional teams, and influence the strategic direction in which we develop our solutions.

As an expert in Label Insight’s data, you will collaborate with internal and external customers to develop standard offerings for Label Insight’s products and custom attributes for top consumer brands and retailers. You will be responsible for analyzing data using our internal tools in order to identify trends and develop accurate and cutting-edge taxonomies. In addition, you will ensure the high quality of these taxonomies by following our standard data quality assurance procedures.

Above all, this role requires you to have a passion for technology, innovation, and data-driven decisions; be a creative problem solver, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a product type expert on various cross-functional teams within the organization
  • Help inform decisions on how the data should be interpreted and presented to users
  • Conduct independent research on current regulations and CPG industry trends in the applicable non-food product types and translate those learnings into attributes
  • Audit, improve, and develop internal database taxonomies (e.g. marketing claims, ingredients, certifications and logos, nutrients)
  • Support Customer Success, Product and Sales teams on customer calls and meetings
  • Learn simple coding language which is used to write attributes

Requirements:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in scientific field preferred: Chemistry, Biology or similar
  • Especially qualified candidates will have experience in one of the following industries:Formulation Chemistry, Regulatory Specialist, R&D, Brand Management or similar careers in one of the relevant industries (personal care/cosmetics, household cleaners, over-the-counter medications, dietary supplements, etc)
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets

Role-Specific Competencies:

  • Some prior knowledge of or a strong drive to learn the intricacies of FDA CFR, EPA labeling regulations and the INCI database
  • An analytical mind and a proven history of learning new technologies
  • Fine attention to detail
  • Highly organized and results oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to relay complex information clearly
  • Thrives in a fast-paced team environment
