The Lead of Commercial Planning is accountable for the teams who will aggregate information and data from across our brand partners commercial plans to create a common event calendar and provide a summarized view of merchandising and marketing elements of Commercial Planning. This Lead and their team will be delivering against the defined performance metrics to successfully execute national scaled events from inventory planning, assortment and resent planning, category alignment, and period reviews. The Lead will also identify areas where brands could make their commercial plans more similar than not and create conversations with brands to encourage this.
Recipe for Success - What's “in store” for the role
This role is essential in building and defining the relationships and ways of working with strategy, merchandising planning, marketing, ecommerce teams and category within the brands and PDL; and leading their Commercial Planning team to aggregate brand information into common view and deliver on size and scale in seasonal and period planning:
• Alignment
- Identify common areas within each brand’s commercial plan
- Facilitate alignment of plans when possible across brand
- Leverage opportunities to benefit size and scale negotiations
• Seasonal Planning
- Facilitate omni commercial planning across brands
- Determine national, scale event themes and map into annual calendar w/ Brands
- Leverage data to bring customer, category and channel strategies to life
- Lead omni asset allocation
• Period planning
- Adjust national, scaled themes & events as needed to reflect changes in market
- Inform cross-cutting capabilities
- Coordinate teams for period review & track performance on execution to timeline
- Aggregate performance metrics
• Commercial Planning Analytics
- Daily and weekly performance management to evaluate commercial plan
- Inform the upfront build and allocation of inventory
- Own the tools / data input into the process (ensures allocation of the right level of inventory to the right categories / events)
- Admin owner of the CrossCap tool for associate access
- Own the methodology for Category Roles
The Essentials In Your Cart - The required ingredients
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of formal degree; Masters Degree in business or related discipline preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in category mgmt., pricing/promotions, commercial planning,ecommerce, and / or marketing or a related field
- Strong analytical skills, including financial planning / budgeting and ability to communicate executive-level insight from analytics
- Strong oral & written communications skills, presentation skills, ability to influence

- Coordinate teams within the brands and PDL for period outlook/review
