Our technology team is looking for a Lead Database Developer to lead, support and extend our platform for our rapidly growing lending businesses. We are seeking very strong hands-on candidates who want to be part of an exciting and challenging technology team in a startup atmosphere.

What you'll be doing:

• Design and develop process automation using the Postgres catalog
• Collaborate with the product and engineering teams to design and implement features in support of our existing lending business and new product launches
• Participate in regular code reviews
• Become a resource for our Business Intelligence and Analytics teams
• Participate in Agile activities including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, and coordinating with end users, application developers and the quality assurance team

What you'll Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math or related field
• 5+ years’ relevant database development experience
• Critical thinker who can develop solutions based on business/product stakeholder needs and understand the technical ramifications of those solutions
• Previous experience with PostgreSQL
• Strong knowledge of Postgres internals, including Postgres catalog tables
• Strong knowledge of relational theory: database design, normalization, and functional dependencies
• Optimization experience, including an understanding of differences in optimization for OLTP/OLAP
• Strong Knowledge of database procedural language plpgsql for Postgres
• Experience with Git (Github & BitBucket), Jira and Confluence
• Experience with Agile or Lean Software Development methodologies such as Kanban, Scrum and Test-Driven Development

Equally important...

• Experience with writing complex SQL queries and query optimization
• Proficient in plpgSQL coding such as writing functions, procedures and triggers
• Experience using foreign data wrappers (FDW) in Postgres
• Experience with DB unit testing
• Experience working in collaboration with an engineering team
• Comfortable with the unknown: startup life allows for a broad, wide ranging role, but also means priorities and work can change quickly. You should be excited about all this entails!

What makes you stand out:

• Prior experience building and supporting Datawarehouse and Reporting
• Previous experience implementing pgTap unit tests
• Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash or Python
• Experience working in public cloud environments such as AWS
• DB performance tuning, backup/recovery, troubleshooting, and scalability/capacity planning
